‘The Golden Menhir’: Asterix and Obelix embark on a new adventure in October

The fans of Asterix and Obelix are in luck after this Monday it has been announced through some French media, such as Le Figaro and Le Journal du Dimanche, the arrival of a new book in the saga that will be called The Golden Menhir.

But the surprise does not end here. The new story is the work of its original creators, the legendary Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny. Something that has particularly caught the attention of comic lovers, as both are deceased, one of them for more than forty years and the other left us on March 24.

How is it possible then? The Golden Menhir was originally conceived as an audiobook. In fact, in 1967 it was published on a 33-inch disc. It told the story of the bard Asurancetúrix, who has set out to have people recognize his musical talent. To do this, it is encouraged to participate in a contest in which the prize is none other than a Golden Menhir. The French heroes, who consider that the artist’s vocal abilities will do nothing more than start a fight, will offer him protection. at all times.

The audiobook will now be published in comic form and will hit French bookstores on October 21 with a print run of 100,000 copies. At the moment, according to Le Journal du Dimanche, it is unknown whether or not it will be translated into more languages.

On the other hand, this new book has another added value because, according to Le Figaro, it would be the last participation of Uderzo in the saga. This was stated to the aforementioned media by its editor, Celeste Suruge, who assured that “At the end of 2019, Albert Uderzo supervised the restoration of his drawings of the time by his most loyal collaborators, gave his opinion and worked on the cover “
